Young Adults Group Talks Series on Tuesday: ‘The Language of the Church’
The Young Adults Group will meet again Tuesday, 1st October for our talks on ‘The Language of the Church.’ Fr. Martin Delaney will speak on ‘Pilgrim Church on earth.’ All those between the ages of 18-35 are welcome to the weekly meetings. As usual, we meet at 63 York Place at 7:00pm for teas/coffees and for the talk at 7.30pm, followed by a short group discussion. Each session concludes with Night Prayer and the chance to meet up at a local pub. Come along!
Farewell for Fr. Patrick

Registration for Children’s Sacramental Preparation
Registration is now open for catechism classes for children to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation (P3), First Holy Communion (P4) and Confirmation (P7). St Andrew’s Talks
Thank you to everyone who came along for the talk from Fr Basil Clark on Padre Pio last Monday. The next St Andrew’s Talk will be in November when Fr Andrew Garden will be at Ravelston on the 25th November to talk about the Gospel of Luke as we prepare to enter into the new liturgical year in Advent which focuses on the Gospel account of St Luke. Join us for Mass at St Andrew’s from 6pm with the talk taking place in the rooms from 6.45pm.
Youth Group
The Youth Group is back next Sunday – 6th October – and children from Primary 3 upwards are welcome to join us at St Andrew’s, Ravelston from 2.30 – 4:00pm. New members are welcome, please register through this link (QR Code too?), new registration fee is £1! The afternoon has lots of fun activities, time to learn more of our faith and to make new friends, too. Don’t forget the spending money for the tuckshop! Each Wednesday 5.00pm Adoration & Confession
Stop in at St. Andrew’s, Ravelston on Wednesdays and spend some time with Jesus Our Lord in Eucharistic Adoration. Beginning from 5:00pm, we have Eucharistic Adoration, and a priest is available to hear Confessions until 5:45pm. This is an opportunity to allow yourself some quiet, peaceful time to pray. Our Lord is waiting for you, so come and meet Him!
Indian Night
We are delighted to host our next themed night in the Parish Rooms at Ravelston on Friday 1st November. All funds raised will go to the Parish Projects! Come along to enjoy some authentic Indian cuisine with a three-course meal on the Solemnity of All Saints from 7:00pm. Bring your own bottle. Tickets are £10 per adult, £25 per family of four (2 adults 2 children). Tickets will be on sale from next weekend, 6th October. Space is limited! 250th Anniversary of St. Patrick's Church, Cowgate
In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of St. Patrick's, Cowgate, the parish will hold a candlelight Rosary procession ending with Benediction at 7:00pm on Saturday, 5 October. This will be followed by a Triduum of devotions beginning Sunday 6 October in honour of St. John Henry Newman, culminating on his feast day Wednesday 9 October, which is the same day as the anniversary of the church. On 9th October, the parish will have Vespers 6:00pm. All are welcome!
Brothers of the Little Oratory Group for Men
St. Patrick’s, Cowgate EH1 1TQ hosts the Brothers of the Little Oratory in the church house on Mondays after the evening Mass (approximately 6:30pm) for a weekly meeting with simple prayers in common, hymns, short sermons, followed by recreation. New Sunday Missal
Starting on Sunday 1 December, an updated Lectionary will be used in all parishes. This means the readings at Mass will employ a slightly different translation of the Sacred Scriptures (the ESV-CE). Request for Photos/Memories of Donegal People Who Worked in Scotland
Donegal County Council is seeking photographs and memories from Donegal people who worked in Scotland between 1940 and 1990 for an upcoming exhibition. Participants are encouraged to share stories, images, documents or objects that reflect the working lives of Donegal people in Scotland.
